Heritage-infused aperitivo

Il Palazzo (connected to the Palazzo Selli Gamberi) has been standing in the heart of Monteleone Sabino since the 15th century, quietly accumulating history while the rest of the world got on with things. You may know this village well. You may know Sabina like the back of your hand. But this particular door — and what’s behind it — might surprise you.

We’re throwing it open.

Come for wine, something delicious to nibble, and the kind of unhurried evening this corner of Lazio does better than anywhere. Come to wander, to ask questions, to discover a small piece of living history that has been here all along, waiting for someone to pay it proper attention.

And while you’re here — that plaque on the outside wall is worth a moment of your time. Giuseppe Garibaldi, the man who more or less invented modern Italy, passed through Il Palazzo on his way to Rome. The building has been quietly pleased with itself about that ever since. Rightly so.

There is something quietly wonderful about uncovering treasures that exist right under our noses — and even more wonderful about celebrating them together. The local community has tended this heritage with care and pride. The least we can do is show up, look closely, and raise a glass to it.

Old friends welcome. New friends especially so.

Three centuries. One door. And we’re leaving the light on.
